The Chalet that got away.
Nadja and I were excited to turn this seasonal chalet into an all weather chalet next to a popular ski resort. We got the price down significantly enough that we thought we had room to rehab it so it would be insulated for the winter and upgraded to attract renters all year long. Problem was that the property was in a small town that had few choices for general contractors. We got two to respond but one estimate was WAY beyond what we thought was reasonable and the other one was within our range.. However the communication lagged significantly . We could hardly get a response from the the company after the initial estimate.. Weeks would go by before we would get an answer and we realized we would never get this property up an running in time for the winter season. They just didn't seem to care about a proper communication exchange and we wouldn't be able to get any work done if at all until the spring of 2022. So we decided to let go of the property to free up some cash for something else. C'est dommage ! we move on.. Chalk this onee to experience.
